10 Feb “It’s Never Too Late To Learn A New Skill…..Or Ten” By Heather Wright
How many times during any month do you think “I would love to know how to do that!” – If we are alike then it happens loads, when you are watching someone effortlessly play the piano – “I’d would love to be able to play like that”, or on the telly when an artist depicts a landscape brilliantly. Maybe it’s in the workplace when you see a colleague present to a room of 100 people without breaking sweat. “I wish I could do that” goes through your head.
One of my Christmas presents was a subscription to Masterclass, I can learn to cook with Gordon Ramsey, play tennis under the tutelage of Serena Williams, and Jodie Foster is teaching me to direct a film. Those are just for fun, the parts I currently loving are “Negotiation Skills” with Ex-FBI hostage negotiation Chris Voss and the various communication techniques classes that I will move on to.
You may be thinking I am trying to sell you a subscription of Masterclass but I promise that is not the case.
The seed I am hoping to plant or to water is the one that says “I can learn new skills constantly”, “lessons are easily available” – we don’t have to wait for someone else to put it into our next appraisal, we can get excited at our own potential.
If you could learn a new skill, or improve on one you already have, what would you choose? And what would it give you?
